Seating may be limited to season ticket holders at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium during Ryan Silverfield’s first season as University of Memphis head coach.

The U of M released a statement Wednesday saying it “may only be able to provide ticket accommodations to season ticket holders” during the upcoming season. The athletic department may not sell single-game tickets for Brady White’s final season in Memphis.

Fans who have purchased tickets prior to June 30 will be given priority according to the release. Memphis announced options for those who purchased tickets in case of a season cancelation in April.

The Tennessee Health Department announced capacity limits on large venues and community events. They also require social distancing between attendees at the Liberty Bowl. No matter how many people fit into the stadium, the health department will require six feet of separation.

Last season’s 12-2 campaign produced improved attendance for Tiger games at the Liberty Bowl. The previous three years saw declining attendance but average attendance improved in Mike Norvell’s final season with the Tigers.

Memphis hosted ESPN’s College GameDay in the morning prior to a sellout crowd attending the Tigers 54-48 win over SMU that night. The Tigers also hosted the American Athletic Conference championship game against Cincinnati.

The Tigers will try to replicate their 2019 Cotton Bowl run starting September 5 against Arkansas State.
