What you need to know about Liberty Stadium renovations
University of Memphis officials have decided tackle the $220 million renovation of Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in phases.
On the hook for $50 million of that funding, the university has said it has raised more than $16 million in gifts and pledges toward that goal and can begin work soon while continuing to raise funding.
But, when will the renovations begin? How many phases and what will they include? What is the “party zone” and how will it effect arena seating?
Does the U of M have to raise $50 million to receive a matching donation from FedEx Corp. founder Fred Smith?
Memphis Tigers athletic director Laird Veatch met with local media members to answer these and more questions.
