BOISE, Idaho — College Football Playoff talk in Week 2 of a season is usually premature.

But it’s nearly impossible not to mention the CFP when previewing the Memphis Tigers’ game at Boise State on Saturday (5 p.m. CT, USA Network).

Memphis (2-0) entered this season knowing it would play two Group of Six teams that are expected to be in the mix for a playoff spot. The Tigers handled UNLV during the season opener in Las Vegas. They were victorious in the home opener against Arkansas State last Saturday, and now they’ll have the chance to cement themselves as an early favorite to be the last Group of Six program standing.
