Athletic director Laird Veatch says the Tigers are ‘very engaged’ and positioning themselves for the next round of expansion.

Memphis begins spring practices on March 19. Here are a few areas to pay attention to as the Tigers prepare to improve from last season. 

Tim Harris, the linebacker who played for Memphis from 1982-85, is joined by pro golfer Loren Roberts, an adopted Memphian, among others.

“The best thing about that is now I’m not just helping myself. I’m able to give back and help my mom a little more. Able to help my dad,” University of Memphis Tiger Alex Lomax said during a panel about name, image and likeness opportunities. 

Memphis and Southern Miss have faced off 63 times but haven’t played each other since the 2012 season. 

The matchup in 2027 will be the first game between the two schools since the Tigers won a home game against Southern Miss 42-24 in 2012.
