How does DeSoto County Schools determine senior class ranking?

DeSoto County students must now take an Advanced Placement assessment the same year they take an advanced course to earn a weighted grade.
The district’s Board of Education updated its policy on senior class rankings during a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 3, including requirements for AP calculation.
As a basis, AP course grades are multiplied by 1.05. To get a weighted calculation of 1.10, the policy now requires students to take AP courses and their corresponding assessments within the same school year.
