Jashawn Jefferson trial delayed again, leading to upset judge

For the second time this year, a trial for a DeSoto County man accused of opening fire on three teenagers was delayed recently, leading to rising tensions between the District Attorney’s Office and County Circuit Court Judge Celeste Wilson.
Jashawn Jefferson was scheduled to appear in court Monday, Nov. 18, for a second attempt to seat a jury. That date follows a delay from April, which resulted in the court ordering DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton’s office to pay more than $2,000 for not being prepared.
Now, another trial date for Jefferson was canceled.
