Hernando mayor admits budgeting errors

The City of Hernando is grappling with a projected $2.6 million deficit in its utility fund for the current fiscal year. 

The shortfall was acknowledged publicly during the Feb. 3 Board of Aldermen meeting, prompting immediate concerns regarding the DeSoto County city’s ability to maintain essential services.

The situation has been described as a cash shortfall that could hit within the next two months.
