Mississippi State’s DJ Jeffries may show Penny Hardaway’s next move should be the middle ground

NASHVILLE — In one sequence following Mississippi State’s emotional upset victory in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament on Friday, Bulldogs forward DJ Jeffries ran the gamut of emotions.

He told a packed room of reporters that he didn’t want to think about it. He also wanted to soak it all in.

This tournament run was one the former Olive Branch High School star desperately wanted. His time is waning. It was Jefferies’ final opportunity to live out what he had pictured six years ago when he posted his college commitment photo to social media.

He was in a Memphis jersey.

Now Jeffries is headed to the NCAA Tournament with the Bulldogs. The Tigers won’t be in the field.

Does Hardaway regret letting Jeffries walk out the door after his sophomore year as a transfer without much pushback three years ago?
