More Memphis-Shelby County Schools students reached proficiency on state tests again this year, according to new results released Monday, June 24, by the Tennessee Department of Education. The scores mark another year of gains in the wake of the pandemic.

Tennessee’s largest school district exceeded pre-pandemic reading proficiency in grades 3-8 for the first time since recovering losses two years ago, based on The Daily Memphian’s review of results.
