It was hot outside, but the questions launched at Brandon Clarke were hotter.

“How high can you jump?”

“Can you dunk on LeBron James?”

“Why didn’t you just become a business businessman?”

And the always challenging: “What is your favorite color?”

Red. The answer is red.

As for dunking on LeBron, Clarke said, “It’s possible.”

The Memphis Grizzlies forward shared his time on Tuesday, June 25, volunteering to spruce up Bickford Park in Memphis by engaging with young students, gardening, helping to paint a mural and bagging snack packs for kids to eat.

“I haven’t planted or painted in a long time,” Clarke said. “Hopefully my effort was good enough today.”

Clarke is amid a much different offseason than last summer when he was still in the early stages of recovering from Achilles surgery. He wasn’t on the court last June and wasn’t able to do much of anything from a vacation or personal life standpoint.

“I was having to build a lot of mental toughness and a lot of habits,” Clarke recalled of last offseason.
