What’s in the contract between DeSoto County Schools, juvenile facility

The DeSoto County School Board updated its agreement with the county’s juvenile correctional facility during a meeting earlier this month.
The contract primarily concerns requirements the DeSoto County Juvenile Correctional Facility, run by the sheriff’s office, must meet to receive federal funding. It includes mandates for education, visitation and recreation.
The contract, passed by the board without discussion on Tuesday, July 16, and later reviewed by The Daily Memphian, was signed by DeSoto County Schools Superintendent Cory Uselton, DeSoto County School Board President Josh Sullivan, DeSoto County Sheriff Thomas E. Tuggle II and Carol Ingram, in the capacity of federal programs director.
