Report on Memphis Animal Services notes lack of leadership

An assessment conducted in April by a national animal rescue organization noted severe deficiencies in leadership at Memphis Animal Services, including the shelter director’s apparently frequent absences from the facility.
The Best Friends Animal Society report obtained by The Daily Memphian comes on the heels of City Interim COO Antonio Adams telling the Memphis City Council Tuesday, July 23, that MAS director Ty Coleman, who was placed on administrative leave June 28, is facing “serious allegations.”
“They’re serious allegations, serious allegations against this young man,” said Adams, who did not have a timetable for the investigation to be complete. “And I think before we put those things out publicly, we should allow … due process to run its course and then we move.”
