Former Jerry Lee Lewis club will reopen as new brand on Beale Street

The club that for years was Jerry Lee Lewis’ Cafe & Honky Tonk, and in the last months operated as 310 Beale St., abruptly closed Wednesday, July 31.
Employees, who requested anonymity because they are owed money and hope to collect, said furniture was being moved out when they arrived at work on Wednesday.
More than 20 people lost their jobs; some had worked at the club for more than 10 years.
The employees said sales are down this summer, both at 310 Beale St. and on the historic street in general. It was a topic discussed at a recent meeting with club owners hosted by the Downtown Memphis Commission, which runs Beale Street.
