Caden Costa hopes to be the next Tiger kicker to reach the NFL

When kicker Caden Costa was considering Memphis while in the NCAA transfer portal, he called former Tigers and NFL kicker Riley Patterson.
His roommate at Ole Miss had a connection with Patterson and passed along the phone number.
Costa committed to Memphis the next day.
“I was just like, ‘Hey, what was your experience here?’ and he had nothing but good things to say,” Costa told The Daily Memphian.
“That really helped me out, just knowing that there’s guys that have come here and have been successful and done it the right way. I could really see myself following in their footsteps here.”
Patterson, recently released by the Washington Commanders as they worked to set their 53-man roster heading into the 2024 season, is part of an impressive group of Memphis kickers who advanced to the NFL.
