September is “Startin’ Somethin’” with new shows opening at Memphis theaters every weekend of the month.

A Broadway show about the “Prince of Pop,” a Shakespearean comedy and a cult-classic musical are all on the lineup for Memphis theaters.

Below is the first part of The Daily Memphian’s monthly guide to local theater productions in September 2024; part two will be published mid-month.

Theatergoers can have “Some Fun Now,” though, with the plays opening the first two weekends of September.
