The Memphis Tigers experienced emotions on both ends of the spectrum in the last two weeks, especially the defense.
On Sept. 14, Memphis earned an impressive win over Florida State on the back of its defense. It then allowed Navy quarterback Blake Horvath to compile 416 yards of total offense with six touchdowns in a 56-44 American Athletic Conference-opening loss a week later.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that lack of execution on one side of the ball in a long time,” Tigers coach Ryan Silverfield said. “And I’ve got to get it fixed.”
His comments came seven days after he applauded the defense for playing “lights out” against FSU.
