MSCS board awaits Feagins’ feedback on evaluation plan

Memphis-Shelby County Schools board members have submitted their proposal for an evaluation rubric to Superintendent Marie Feagins, who must agree with the plan before it is used to assess her job performance as the leader of Tennessee’s largest school district.
Feagins, who assumed the role officially on April 1, is expected to receive a formal evaluation by next spring.
It will be two parts: One part that is similar to a scale used to evaluate Memphis superintendents in recent years, and a second part that includes numerical metrics that Feagins suggests.
“Every employee deserves a fair and transparent evaluation process,” newly elected board Chair Joyce Dorse-Coleman said to start a Monday, Sept. 30 meeting on the process.
