Memphis student from Ghana attends his first American football game

When Ben Agyemang received the scholarship that would allow him to leave Ghana and study at the University of Memphis, it was a bittersweet moment.
It was an opportunity he longed for since he was in middle school, but being accepted meant he’d be traveling to a different country alone.
“When I got the scholarship, I cried,” Agyemang said. “Because I was like, ‘I’m leaving home. I’m leaving family.’ …I’m, like, basically on my own. When I got the scholarship, I was happy. But the thought of leaving home, leaving familiar people (and) having to start all over in a new land kind of scared me.”
