‘We’re not gonna fold.’ Memphis’ road win over Clemson shows resilience

CLEMSON, South Carolina — Penny Hardaway did something earlier this week that he’s rarely — if ever — done in his six-plus-year college coaching career.
After Memphis lost to Arkansas State by double digits at home last Sunday, the Tigers’ coach deleted the footage of the game from his own devices — and tried to erase it from his memory altogether. Hardaway, who usually re-watches all of his team’s performances in their entirety, made the decision to not watch a second of that one.
“I trashed it,” he said Saturday. “Seriously. … I never watched it. I didn’t want to see anything (about it). I didn’t even want to look at ESPN — and I look at ESPN all day. I washed it out. I didn’t say anything to the team about it.
“Because I knew that wasn’t my team that played against Arkansas State.”
