Four Downs with Finebaum: Tennessee’s CFP downfall, final word on Memphis’ season

Former Memphian Paul Finebaum, the White Station High and University of Tennessee graduate who makes his living talking SEC football for ESPN, is answering college football questions for The Daily Memphian.

The weekly Q&A series “Four Downs with Finebaum” will run throughout the 2024 season.

Last week the Memphis Tigers helped usher in bowl season with their wild 42-37 win over West Virginia of the Big 12 in the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl in Frisco, Texas.

Later in the week the College Football Playoff got underway with Notre Dame beating Indiana, Penn State handling SMU, Texas knocking off Clemson and Ohio State having little trouble with Tennessee.
