This is a developing story and may be updated.

Memphis-Shelby County Schools board member Amber Huett-Garcia has proposed an alternative to firing Superintendent Marie Feagins, board documents show.

Huett-Garcia’s resolution would provide time for Feagins to remedy the issues board members identified and would require monthly updates to the public about the progress made.

“... the Board has the opportunity to demonstrate strong governance and communicate the desired improvements to Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins so that she may have additional time to remedy the root issues outlined in the prior resolution calling for termination,” Huett-Garcia’s resolution reads. (Find the resolution in full in this story.)
