Sherwood Brown: From death row at Parchman to freedom

The 1993 deaths of 13-year-old Evangela Boyd, her mother Verline Boyd and grandmother Betty Boyd remain unsolved.
In 1995, Sherwood Brown was convicted of the slayings.
Years later, DNA evidence showed he wasn’t connected to the deaths and in 2021 he was released from prison.
This month, Brown’s pro bono defense team added additional attorneys to help with the lawsuit against the state, which could ultimately pay him up to $500,000.
