As MRPP looks for new leader, Davis happy to continue wearing new hats
“We have a lot of things to do here” said Art Davis, acting CEO of Memphis River Parks Partnership. “I’m looking at maintaining the parks in a beautiful, welcoming, safe environment and carrying on all of the things that we’re doing.” (Brad Vest/Special to The Daily Memphian)
Art Davis has been an accountant, a construction overseer, and even Santa Claus in his various roles at the Memphis River Parks Partnership.
Now, he also holds the title of interim executive director, after former head Carol Coletta stepped down from the organization, which manages 6 miles of the Mississippi River riverfront as well as 12 city-owned parks along the river.
But when asked if he’d like to be the executive director permanently, Davis was circumspect.
“My focus right now is on the present,” Davis said in an interview with The Daily Memphian at a recent MRPP fundraising event. “We have a lot of things to do here. I’m looking at maintaining the parks in a beautiful, welcoming, safe environment and carrying on all of the things that we’re doing.”
