MICE Act outlines a ‘Big Cat’ immigration bill for Mississippi

DeSoto County officials are set to introduce legislation addressing illegal immigration enforcement in Mississippi, weeks after a previous effort to involve bounty hunters in immigration arrests failed to advance in the state Legislature.
District Attorney Matthew Barton and state Sen. Michael McLendon, R-Hernando, outlined the new bill at a press conference Monday at the DeSoto County Administration Building.
The legislation is expected to build upon House Bill 1484, which sparked national debate before dying in committee earlier this month.
