Criminal case against Youth Villages staffers dropped, DA’s office says

Following an agreement to resolve any disputes about the death of a teenager at a local Youth Villages residential facility in 2023, the criminal cases against several of the facility’s staffers have been dropped, according to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.

Four Youth Villages staffers previously had been indicted for facilitation of aggravated child abuse and facilitation of reckless homicide in the death of 17-year-old Alegend Jones.
