MSCS board member retires from teacher-union leadership

Memphis-Shelby County Schools board member Keith Williams has retired from his longtime role leading a local teacher union, a position that has stirred concerns of conflicting interests throughout his tenure on the school board.

“Board member Keith Williams has recently retired from his role as executive director of Memphis-Shelby County Education Association,” school board chair Joyce Dorse Coleman wrote in a newsletter published Friday, May 30. 

“Congratulations on your many years of service,” Dorse Coleman wrote.
