Le Bonheur doc retires from Heart Institute he built

When Dr. Jeffrey Towbin, 73, retires from his storied 40-year career in cardiology at the end of June, one of his greatest legacies will be the pediatric heart program at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Since 2015, Towbin has served as executive chief of pediatric cardiology and executive codirector of the Heart Institute, which touts some of the strongest surgical outcomes in the nation and is consistently ranked by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons as one of the best.
