Why didn’t Memphis land AAC tournament?

When the American Athletic Conference and its athletic directors announced new locations for the league’s men’s and women’s conference basketball tournaments last month, Memphians may have hoped to see the men’s tournament return to Bluff City for the first time since 2019.

The conference, however, announced that the athletic directors chose Birmingham, Alabama, and Tampa, Florida, to host both tournaments for the next three years.
