Taxing times ahead? DeSoto County leaders plot relief for state mandate

DeSoto County property owners are bracing for significant shifts in their tax obligations as a directive from the Mississippi Department of Revenue triggers substantial increases in property assessments across the state.

County leaders, however, are signaling their intent to mitigate the financial impact on residents by reducing the millage rate, taking some of the pressure off increased home values dictated by the state.
