Man who escaped DeSoto County custody pleads guilty to attempted murder

Joshua Zimmerman, who escaped custody in DesSoto County and was later recaptured in Chicago, pleaded guilty to attempted murder Thursday and was sentenced to 50 years in prison, according to District Attorney Matthew Barton.
The sentence, which includes no possibility of parole, concludes the local case against him.
