If it were any other criminal case, the degree of disgust likely would not be this high.
Few would care that local prosecutors failed to put forth a case robust enough to secure a conviction or that an out-of-town jury ignored the proof that was presented. And not many would care that an erstwhile respected judge would be so reckless with his words that he would have to withdraw from a federal case involving the same incident.
