Memphis-Shelby County Schools’ buildings need more than $1.4 billion worth of maintenance upgrades throughout the next decade, according to estimates from a recent evaluation. The costs of these improvements at each school could help determine which ones MSCS officials suggest for closure or consolidation.
Some schools may close at the end of this academic year. District staff are expected to present a list of candidates for closure during a board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
