Feeding the Grizzlies: How a team tradition is supporting one local business
On Sunday afternoon, Memphis Grizzlies rookie Javon Small walked into a restaurant he had never visited.
His unfamiliarity was not a surprise, given his taste in cuisine.
“‘I don’t eat sushi,’” South Main Sushi owner and manager Lee Vichathep recalled Small telling her.
“I told him, ‘That’s alright, we serve much more than just sushi.’”
But Small wasn’t there to sit down and grab a bite to eat. Instead, the point guard was there to fulfill his rookie duty.
