Tennessee education officials expect to update the state’s school voucher application to track whether new applicants attend public schools.

The move is part of new award guidelines for the 2026-27 school year.

“The 2026-27 Education Freedom Scholarship for new applicants will have a question that will provide the name of the public district and school, if applicable,” Tennessee Department of Education spokesperson Ricki C. Collins told The Daily Memphian.
