New year, new laws: Tennessee legislation that takes effect on Jan. 1, 2026

Some of the new laws have already taken effect, and several remaining ones do on Jan. 1, 2026. These include changes to state immigration enforcement, cannabis and vape regulations, election rules and public safety.

So, as 2025 winds down, here are some laws that will take effect in the new year:
