National Guard numbers swelled in mid-November, documents show

In the days before a Nashville judge ruled on the legality of Gov. Bill Lee’s deployment of the Tennessee National Guard to Memphis, hundreds more guardsmen surged into the city, according to public records.

Daily situation reports from President Donald Trump’s Memphis Safe Task Force show the number of National Guard personnel in Memphis jumped from 344 on Nov. 14 to 863 on Nov. 15.

For the rest of November and the first week of December there were 865 guardsmen in Memphis, the documents show.
