What to watch when Memphis faces Tulane

The time for the Memphis Tigers to gain separation from the teams in the middle of the American Conference standings is now.

While coach Penny Hardaway’s team will enter February having already taken three losses in conference play, it is still tied for fifth in the 13-team league. It can still compete for a Top 2 seed and a triple-bye in the American Tournament in March and even have a chance to win the conference’s regular-season title for the second-straight year.

But to keep those hopes alive the Tigers (10-10, 5-3 American) must take care of business against the American’s bottom-feeders.
