Chris Herrington has covered the Memphis Grizzlies, in one way or another, since the franchise’s second season in Memphis, while also writing about music, movies, food and civic life. As far as he knows, he’s the only member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association who is also a member of a film critics group and has also voted in national music critic polls for Rolling Stone and the Village Voice (RIP). He now splits his time between Minneapolis-St. Paul, where his wife works, and Memphis.
As we finally arrive at the NBA’s trade deadline week, the streets are eerily quiet on that front. But there are also games being played, and some notable stuff happening. Let’s survey a few Memphis Grizzlies topics as the week begins.
Ty Jerome’s return
That was a pretty good debut from Ty Jerome, even if the Grizzlies had to wait more than six months for it.
Jerome signed with the Grizzlies as a free agent in mid-July and made his regular-season debut Saturday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, tallying 20 points, six assists and only two turnovers in less than 20 minutes of play.
