Chris Herrington has covered the Memphis Grizzlies, in one way or another, since the franchise’s second season in Memphis, while also writing about music, movies, food and civic life. As far as he knows, he’s the only member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association who is also a member of a film critics group and has also voted in national music critic polls for Rolling Stone and the Village Voice (RIP). He now splits his time between Minneapolis-St. Paul, where his wife works, and Memphis.
The withdrawal date for college players passed last week and, minus a couple of international prospects, we now mostly know which players are available in next month’s NBA draft.
The Memphis Grizzlies have three picks: No. 3, No. 16 and No. 32.
Given how lucrative “NIL” money now is for college stars, a lot of potential prospects pulled out of the draft. The exodus has no impact on the Grizzlies’ first pick and likely no impact on its second pick. This remains a very strong draft through the Top 20 or so. But after that?
