Mississippi legislators will meet Wednesday, July 15, to debate sweeping changes to the state youth court system, including phasing out county-level youth courts and transitioning to a statewide system.
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves abruptly called the special session Tuesday, July 14, but provided only general remarks about what would be discussed.
The main intent of the session is to address the expiration of access to youth court records under state law, which legislators failed to act on earlier this year during the regular session.
