Ballet Memphis celebrates the past while looking to the future

The Ballet Memphis open house Saturday was meant to not only celebrate the 40th anniversary of the dance company’s founding but also to help lay the foundation for the next 40 years or more, Ballet Memphis Artistic Director Steven McMahon said.
After all, what better way to entice future dancers and patrons than a four-hour showcase that includes lessons for children, featured performances, face painting (Spider-Man and butterflies seemed to be the top choices) and everyone’s favorite cold treat, Mempops?
