Bob McEniry shows confidence in CBU with $6.2 million donation

After Bob McEniry announced Tuesday, Aug. 11, that he and his wife were donating $6.2 million to Christian Brothers University, the local businessman and philanthropist said he hoped such an act would inspire “confidence” in a 155-year-old school school that nearly closed over financial troubles two years ago.
That word “confidence” was repeated throughout the press conference announcing the donation, and it’s a word that CBU officials and supporters are using frequently to describe the school’s planned resurrection.
“It’s about confidence, right?” newly installed CBU President Ronald Brandon said. “It’s confidence in the mission. It’s confidence in the students, and it’s confidence in the future that CBU can build with its faculty, staff, students, alumni, stakeholders and supporters. And so that’s really what today’s about.”
