The Memphis Grizzlies are embarking on a new era this season, with transitional intrigue that will look both back and ahead.
The next several months at FedExForum could feature the first return games from the key personalities of the franchise’s recent past, including Ja Morant (now a Portland Trail Blazer), Jaren Jackson Jr. (Utah Jazz), Desmond Bane (Orlando Magic) and coach Taylor Jenkins (Milwaukee Bucks).
It will also feature a series of rookie and young-star matchups as new Grizzly Cameron Boozer makes his first trip around the league, battling with reigning Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg (Dallas Mavericks) and fellow 2026-2027 favorites AJ Dybantsa (Washington Wizards), Darryn Peterson (Utah) and Caleb Wilson (Chicago Bulls).

As far as he knows, he’s the only member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association who is also a member of a film critics group and has also voted in national music critic polls for Rolling Stone and the Village Voice (RIP). He now splits his time between Minneapolis-St. Paul, where his wife works, and Memphis.
