The owner of a Cordova daycare where a 6-year-old child died last week after being left on a bus for several hours operates at least six other local childcare centers, all of which appeared to be open Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Raven Marshall-Lewis, 47, is listed as the owner of two Klassy Kids Academy locations (3750 Ridgeway Road and 2979 Elmore Park Road), two Ivy League Learning Academy locations (2775 Stage Center Drive and 6189 E. Shelby Drive), Imagine Academy (7130 E. Shelby Drive) and Yaya’s Place (8200 Old Dexter Road), according to state records.

Childcare center permanently closes after 6-year-old girl’s death

Following the death of 6-year-old Winter Jones on Thursday, Aug. 13, after the nonverbal, autistic child was left on a bus for as many as six hours on a day when the temperature reached 99 degrees, Marshall-Lewis surrendered the license to Kid University, effectively closing that center.
