Eric Barnes is CEO of The Daily Memphian, host of Behind the Headlines on WKNO-TV, host of The Sidebar on WYXR 91.7, and the author of four novels.

Brady Walkinshaw believes in print. Printed papers, that is. And he’s putting his money behind it.

Walkinshaw is the CEO and founder of Noisy Creek, which recently bought the Memphis Flyer and Memphis Magazine, adding the titles to four other publications around the U.S., including Chicago ReaderPortland Mercury, The Stranger in Seattle and Anchorage Press.

Those alt weeklies do of course have websites, but Walkinshaw believes in the age of artificial intelligence, providing local news in print has a future in Memphis and around the country.
