No tax increase for most DeSoto County towns
Although the jury is still out on Hernando’s budget after it was abruptly passed and then unpassed this week, several other DeSoto County municipalities have approved their financial plans with no property tax increases for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1.
Olive Branch, Southaven and Horn Lake all kept their property tax rates the same as last year after individual meetings earlier this week.
Prior to its budget fiasco Tuesday, Hernando also passed its fiscal year 2027 property tax rate, maintaining the 35.76 mills. Millage rate is the measure used to determine property taxes. One mill equals $1 of tax for every $1,000 of assessed property value.
