‘Strongest heat dome on the planet’ hovers over Memphis

When weather folks try to explain a heat dome, it quickly turns into a conversation with words like “decameter” and “millibar” and other fancy names meteorologists love.
But here’s an analogy the rest of us can understand: The heat dome over Tennessee the Washington Post said was the strongest on the planet is a pot of scalding water, and we are the crawfish.
And we’re going to keep boiling for the foreseeable future.
