A debut album, a community garden and a heart for art

Talibah Safiya is the first artist to release an album on the University of Memphis’ High Water Records label in almost 20 years. She’s an artist-in-residence at the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, an entrepreneur and, with her husband, the founder of the Hood Homestead.

Kylah Strickland-Paige
Kylah Strickland-Paige is a New Jersey native in Memphis by way of Southern California. She’s an abstract artist, author and online bookseller. When she isn’t writing or reading, she is in the kitchen fixing Caribbean dishes with her spouse and four kids. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a B.A in history.
