The next Blockbuster? Local GameStop locations to close — part of 400+ nationwide

Marc Hodges knows the GameStop at 5043 Park Ave. in East Memphis well — he’s been popping into the store roughly every other week in recent years.

So when he saw a sign Tuesday, Jan. 13, that said the location would close this week as part of 400-plus stores shutting their doors nationwide, he wasn’t completely shocked.

“People say it’s gonna be the next Blockbuster,” said Hodges, 32. “And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case.”
