Supporters prepare to hit the ground running ahead of St. Jude’s biggest fundraising event
There are expected to be 22,000 people running in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon on Saturday morning, Dec. 6. (Patrick Lantrip/The Daily Memphian)
Rebecca Cox is one of 22,000 people running in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon on Saturday morning, Dec.6, and she knows that near the end of her race, she’ll be flagging and just wanting the pain to end.
But she also knows that just when the pain seems to be too much and she can’t run another step in the half-marathon, that’s also when the course takes her through the St. Jude campus. She’ll see all those patients and their families lined up to cheer the runners on, smiling and yelling through their own pain.
Well, it’s not hard to finish a little race after that.
